What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file placed by the site on your device, which your browser sends back on each visit. Among other things, it lets us recognise you from one page to the next when you are signed in and remember your preferences.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies, exempt from consent: the session cookie (bz_session), which keeps you signed in; the re-authentication cookie, which proves for a few minutes that you have just confirmed your password before a sensitive action; the two-factor authentication challenge cookie, for the duration of sign-in; the language cookie (bz_locale), which remembers the chosen language. We set no advertising cookie, no social network tracker and no profiling cookie. If audience measurement is put in place, it is either exempt from consent (aggregated, anonymised data) or subject to your prior agreement through a banner.
How to manage them
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies prevents signing in to the service. Signing out deletes the session cookie; the "Sessions" page of your workspace also lets you close all your open sessions, on all your devices.
Retention periods
Session cookie: the duration of the session (twelve hours, or thirty days if you chose "stay signed in"); it is renewed at each sign-in. Re-authentication cookie: five minutes. Two-factor challenge cookie: a few minutes, for the duration of sign-in. Language cookie: one year.
